Great work, you got it, see you did homework. The movies you received with Hsliif ?, then they were reasonable accommodation of years with their tool and paste dried up and that's why they are torn up, get some new ones (if). Tell me, what is meant by a failed quench? I too, was sparingly drilling blades very unpleasant. Do Ttias, papyrus is the result of a failed quench (I tried a new method) recent, here you can see clearly the H"kosl "refers to the missing part with a knife ...
Two minds. 1. tempering also excellent, Hsofin little short, but slips and does sound a lot different than the tempered papyrus steel not, could it be that you mean these delicate scratches? 2. If Hsofin really short, do the process again, just as soon not need additional preparation. Not attempt to describe papyrus the act of tempering, how warmed? From what decision you have reached the right temperature? What table the blade and in what amount? According answers maybe I can give you direction so it will not happen again.

And another thing, I prefer to drill only after I hand-holding the pins
