Czech, Belgian and Japanese slide scientists have described a previously unknown mechanism "suicide" chemical defenses of tropical termite species Neocapritermes taracua. Their study, published in his new edition of the prestigious scientific journal Science. Check out the video:
The study brought together biologists and chemists from the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (IOCB ASCR), Charles University and Masaryk slide University. Under the Constitution, the early research was worth watching colleagues Šobotník John and Thomas Bourguignon French Guiana in South America. At one of the local termite species of rainforest watched special slide blue structure on the bodies of workers.
To the surprise of scientists termite workers responded to the irritation of the suicide blast. Subsequent research has shown that it is a unique defense strategy laborers who used to defend against competitors from the other species of termites hlínožravých. The mechanism is based on the chemical reaction of the blue "crystals" protein origin stored in special pockets outside the body, and salivary gland secretions of workers. Both components react after tearing the body worker and give rise sticky liquid that is also toxic to competing species.
Researchers found that the "blue termites' have been particularly aggressive in attacking competing termite slide species Labiotermes labralis. Termites opponent first bite, followed by a suicide explosion. Storyline: Harpy exist.
